The Wenger System
Our feed production processes and procedures are ISO certified in 9001 (Quality), 14001 (Environmental Management), and 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety) at eight of our ten locations. As the only feed mills in North America with triple ISO certification, our customers can trust in every stage of production — purchasing, manufacturing, and delivery.
Quality and Certifications to Differentiate Your Product
Consumers are becoming more interested in where and how their food is made. As a Mid-Atlantic feed supplier, our customers provide protein products throughout the United States and the world. We are proud to serve your business by delivering the quality feed products that your animals deserve while adhering to the traceability and transparency that consumers desire and safety demands.
We create clear and targeted policies, hire the best talent, provide robust training, leverage the power of automation, and prioritize quality over everything.
The Wenger System (WS)
Wenger’s assigns highest priority to management of risk in all aspects of business. One of the ways the risks in the feed milling and related functions are managed is through the implementation of Wenger System (WS) across the network that addresses the mitigation of known risks, identify potential and new risks, assess acceptable levels, and work for continual improvement.
The WS is a proprietary centralized resource to every team member in the organization that serves as a dynamic repository of policies, processes and procedures driving continuous improvement in various functions uniformly across all locations aimed at delivering our product (feed) and services consistently every single time. This is accomplished through ensuring compliance with Internal (operating standards and metrics) and External (local/regional/federal regulatory requirements), enhancing efficiency in functional deliverables and Customer Experience.
Certified Processes (CP)
Additionally, Wenger Feeds subscribes to management systems complying with standards prescribed by external certifying agencies to ensure the proprietary systems are consistently meeting and improving upon the customer, industry and international standards. These are third party verified, user-fee funded, external audit services, often driven by specific requirements of customers, and include the following.
All the proceedings of the WS and CP are constantly monitored by a high-level management committee and publishes the performance against set objectives and goals on a periodical basis displayed at all the locations.
The WS and CP are among the key differentiators of Wenger Feeds and are a source of differentiation for its customers in their commitment to uniformity, consistency, quality, safety, compliance, and customer experience.
International Organization for Standardization (ISO) since 2004
Our feed production processes and procedures are ISO certified for following standards at eight of our eleven locations.
ISO 9001: 2015 – Quality
Wenger Feeds uses the standard to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
ISO 14001: 2015 – Environmental
Is an international standard that specifies requirements for an effective environmental management system. It provides a framework that an organization can follow, rather than establishing environmental performance requirements.
ISO 45001: 2018 – Occupational Health & Safety
The goal of ISO 45001 is the reduction of occupational injuries and diseases, including promoting and protecting physical and mental health.
As the only feed mills in North America with triple ISO certification, our customers can trust in quality, safety and environmental compliance at every stage of production — procurement, manufacturing, and delivery.

Organic, Non-GMO, and Kosher Certified
Our Nutrify ingredient warehouse and two of our feed mills, Shippensburg and Hempfield, are certified to process and handle organic feed and ingredients. Our organic compliance is certified by Pennsylvania Certified Organic (PCO), Non-GMO compliance by Where Food Comes From.
Our Soy Plant in Rheems has achieved Kosher Certification.
Food Safety Modernization Act
All mills adhere to the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). FSMA aims to ensure the U.S. food supply is safe by shifting the focus to preventing contamination, rather than responding to it. The law applies to human food as well as to food for animals, including pets.
Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI)
Within the FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) is a provision known as the Preventative Controls for Human Food Regulation, which prevents foodborne illnesses through the safe preparation of food products for human consumption in the United States. This regulation requires food and beverage facilities to have at least one Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) to lead the creation, application, and verification of risk-based preventative controls. PCQI is responsible for preventative controls, compliance, and recall plans. We have 30 individuals from throughout the organization who are PCQI Certified.
USDA Process Verified
Six of our mills are Process Verified through the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Program.
This verification offers Wenger’s customers a unique way to market their food products using clearly defined, implemented, and transparent process points. As a Wenger customer, you will not have to bear the time and cost associated with single audits as each location will be certified for all Process Verified programs.

Safe Quality Food
Our Rheems and Hempfield Mills are certified to the Safety Quality Food (SQF) standard.
Recognized by the Global Food Safety Institute (GFSI), the Safe Quality Food (SQF) family of food safety and quality codes are designed to meet retailer and buyer needs.
Both mills are certified to food sector category 34, the manufacture of animal feeds, and are audited once a year.
The certification aids our customers who adhere to the program and wish to use the SQF seal on their products as a mark of their commitment to safe food.
Our Custom Feed Formulation
Wenger Feeds’ Nutrition Services team delivers strategic, performance-focused solutions through highly qualified nutritionists specializing in poultry and swine supported by a board of leading industry consultants and veterinarians. Serving as the primary link between customers and our organization, our nutritionists develop standard and customized programs tailored to each operation’s breed, life-stage, management practices, and market differentiation. Through regular KPI meetings, we collaborate closely with customers to understand their goals, analyze challenges, implement solutions, and continuously refine programs for optimal performance. Our research team neutrally evaluates nutritional technologies at four research farms to ensure cost-effective, science-based recommendations, while staying current through participation in leading industry and university scientific meetings.
We offer comprehensive programs including Conventional, No Animal Protein (NAP), Antibiotic Free (ABF), Raised Without Antibiotics (RWA), and Organic feeds compliant with the National Organic Program. Our innovative specialty programs address specific performance goals: Protein Minimization (PMP), Gut Motility Optimization (GMOP), Nutrient Absorption Enhancement (NAEP), Breaker and Shell Egg Programs (BEP, SEP), Pigmentation Enhancement (PEP), Breast Meat Enhancement (BMEP), Pullet Performance Enhancement (PPEP), and Regenerative Agriculture (RAP). Through the Wenger Animal Nutrition Academy (WANA), we continually upskill our team in advanced anatomy, physiology, nutrition, formulation, quality, food safety, and feed analysis, ensuring every team member contributes to delivering exceptional customer results.
Nutrient Analysis for Better Efficiency of Your Grain
If you’re using your own grain, we can also test its nutrient profile. Nutrient analysis using NIR spectroscopy is a service available in our laboratory. By knowing the nutrient profile of your grain, you can more accurately formulate your feed avoiding costly over-formulation or potentially harmful under-formulation. Contact us to discuss which support program best fits your operation.
Our Feed Mill Network Is Nearby
With a network of ten milling locations, Wenger Feeds is the solution when searching for a “feed mill near me.” Save on delivery charges, receive the freshest product possible, and experience the same consistent quality from all locations.
For your peace of mind, our network allows us to shift production to meet your needs. Let us put our products and services to work for your business. Check our locations page for directions.
Quality Control
We safeguard your animals through comprehensive quality control at every stage—from ingredient approval and supplier monitoring to finished feed testing. Our rigorous processes ensure all suppliers meet quality and regulatory standards, while lot controls, sequencing, and flushing protocols manage medications and shelf-life requirements.
Because natural and processed ingredients vary by crop cycle, location, and season, we regularly test raw materials and update nutrient specifications to reflect current values. This allows us to adjust formulations in real-time, minimizing nutrient variation and ensuring consistent delivery of the designed physical form and nutritional profile your animals need.
Our mycotoxin risk management program adds another layer of protection. Mycotoxins—toxic substances produced by certain molds in soil—pose health risks to animals and humans. We test incoming grains immediately using diagnostic strips, then conduct comprehensive laboratory analysis using LC-MS/MS technology to detect aflatoxins, ochratoxins, T2, DON (vomitoxin), fumonisins, and zearalenones in any feed, forage, grain, or ingredient. This multi-tiered approach gives you confidence that your flock or herd receives safe, consistent, high-quality nutrition.
Biosecurity
Biosecurity is a critical component of livestock production, and we are a key part of the food chain. Our biosecurity processes are covered by several procedures in The Wenger System and includes systems in both operations and transportation.
