History
In business since 1944 and incorporated 4 years later, Wenger's Feed Mill, Inc. has grown to become one of the most comprehensive Agricultural Feed and Service companies on the East Coast. Wenger's customers provide eggs, poultry, and pork food products to the Mid-Atlantic region, an area that comprises more than 25% of the U.S. population. The business that has grown to include six mills across two states started in a modest, hometown grocery store.

After experiencing great success selling Purina® feeds in his Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania self-service grocery store, founder Mel Wenger was approached by a Purina® salesman about purchasing the J.W. Wolgemuth Mill in neighboring Rheems. Mel Wenger purchased the mill in 1944 and, throughout the 50's and 60's, developed a custom feed formula to meet the needs of the growing egg layer business in Lancaster County. The resultant M.M. Wenger feeds were extremely popular and filled a market segment that had previously been ignored. His success prompted Mel Wenger to drop the checkerboard and create an independent line of custom feed products. By the early 1960's, Wenger Feeds had expanded into poultry and swine production, eggs, and pullet growing.

Wenger's Feed Mill, Inc. serves Eastern and Central Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, and Maryland by providing:
  • Quality Feed Manufacturing and Delivery

  • Flock Production Record System
  • Egg Marketing
  • Pullet Growing

Mission Statement
Providing Quality Feed for Quality Food

Core Values
Our corporate culture has played a central role in our success as individuals and as a company. As we see it, it is the sum of these beliefs and/or values that have animated our company.

The foundation of our culture and our Core Values serve as a guide for how we do business daily —internally and externally. We need to live them at work and in our personal lives. By our actions, we do what we value most. Those around us see what we do more than what we say we do. Culture and its values are hard to put into measured specifics, but the outcomes are very clear.

Accountability: “We will take ownership of every choice there is to make as well as the outcomes.” Accountability translates into responsible behavior and a safe work environment.

Ethics:
“We will do the right thing.” Customers and employees know we will do for others the same as we would want to be treated.

Integrity: “We will do what we say.” Customers and employees know we are honest, and we will stand behind our products and our word.

Quality: “We will keep our standards of quality higher than everyone else.” We believe every load of feed from any of our mills will meet our high standards of quality and will be the same every time.

Reliability: “We will stand behind our products and our people.” Customers trust our products will perform, or we will make it right.

Respect: “We will value each other, our customers, and our vendors.” Mutual respect will be shown by all within our organization, as well as to our customers and vendors.

Stewardship: “We will manage our lives and assets with the proper regard for the rights of others.” We are building a sustainable business for the future, for our community, and for the environment.

It is clear that vision and mission statements are only hollow words if they are not accomplished and accompanied by the values in which we believe. Our company is truly built on those values and they explain a great deal about our success.

Vision Statement
Our Vision: To continue to grow

Stewardship Initiative: We will continue to manage our lives and assets with the proper regard to the rights and needs of others.

Learning Initiative: We will continue to promote and expand our learning opportunities as individuals and as an organization.

Quality Initiative: We will continue to embrace quality in all that we do.

Relationship Initiative: We will continue to maintain professional relationships with our employees, customers, vendors, and the community.

Financial Initiative: We will continue to be a company that is financially sound.

Innovation Initiative: We will continue to thrive on interaction, information, and the power of teams.

We acknowledge the solid foundation on which these initiatives are built.
This is our commitment to present and future generations.
